GAME TIME O9(Click for more info)

National Youth conference    Jacksonville, Florida

July 9-12

 As one of the leaders of our 925 group I am attending the 925 National conference in Jacksonville, Florida with other ahtletes from our University and around the nation. It is a weekend conference that will conect us with the vision and purpose of 925 as a whole so we can all work together to change the world through sports and build up spiritually solid leader. It will also be an awesome time to bond with the other athletes not only from other chapters of 925 but really build relationships with the athletes from our campus we will be travelling with. Below is a letter I have sent out to people........we are all students and their is not a lot of spare cash floating around so we have been trying to fund raise the money for the athletes. We still have some flights to be paid for and some athletes who would like to attend so if you would like to finacially support 925 please contact me........or if you are unable to I would really appriciate your prayers. To me everyone in America says they are a Christian........including a lot of the athletes. But I would clump that claim into the religous category.......  I pray that through this ministry we can build a group of sold out Christian athletes who really believe in the Truth of the gospel and want to impact their teams and know and understand the unconditional love of Christ.

{Fall 09}

I am Involved with a club on campus called 925 Athletic Ministries.......below is some info about it and some photos of what have been going on in the last semester

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. I Corinthians 9:25.

This the the verse that 9:25 athletic Ministries is based on. We are looking to change the world through sports.

Getting involved in 9:25 Athletics has been one of the biggest blessing in my life this year. Wow what an AMAZING experience!! Tiffany and I went along to the group, formally known as Champions, last Christmas. At this time there were only 3 student athletes attending and it was just a normal bible study. A name change, format change and a lot of spark and blessing now results in between 30-40 student athletes showing up each week on a Wednesday night to eat candy, play games, share our lives, and listen to the word of God being spoken.

I am part of the leadership team that is comprised of about 6-7 student athletes all from different teams (well apart from Tiffany and I). We meet in the home of our campus missionary (Chris) and his wife Bethany. Chris (a former football player for the university) and Bethany have such a heart for this campus and spend there lives ministering and encouraging the student athletes. Chris and Bethany have been married a year, they have a new baby girl called Faith and have become close friends of mine. They live right by campus and are often a stop off point for me between classes or after a rough day.

Other than the weekly meetings I have been able to help organize the photo rally, helped raise money for Turkey for the Turkeyless where we raised enough money to buy 10 Turkeys for underprivileged families for Thanksgiving, and been to the youth prison where we conducted a church service.

This semester when school and running haven't been going so well 9:25 and the friends I have made through this group are the only thing that have kept me in high spirits. I have loved getting to know athletes from the other teams, and sharing in each others wins and loses on and off the field. Being a student athlete is a special thing, and building meaningful relationships among other athletes has been such a blessing. God is definalty blessing this ministry and changing my heart and attitude along with it.

Below are a few photos from our weekly meetings, some of the athletes in action, and some service projects we have been involved in. Enjoy. :)
